Suffering from procrastination or analysis paralysis, or have you just run out of ideas for content that’s good enough to put into the world? It’s happened to all of us at one time or another. Sitting, staring at the blank screen, hoping for some interesting content ideas to come to mind suddenly.
Here’s a checklist of topic ideas that I use when I need inspiration:
FAQs. What was the last question a customer or prospective customer asked you? Keep a list of questions that people ask. If one person has asked, others are likely looking for that information. Create an FAQ section that you update regularly or write individual articles, posts, emails, etc.
Testimonials. Good feedback from past or current customers is a great way to build trust and show off you and your offerings.
How-Tos. Tips & Tricks. Instructions on using your products or services (get creative here) are another great way to show off what you have to offer, especially if there are some creative uses that people might not see themselves.
Case Studies. Show your audience how you’ve helped others. You can keep these anonymous or use them as an excellent way to give some PR to a client.
Profile of a Client. Highlighting a client could get you brownie points and show prospective clients how supportive you are of those you work with.
Popular Older Content. Look at your website analytics to see your most popular content from a year or more ago. Also, look at older social media posts and email opens and clicks. Create new content, giving an update or another way to look at that old content.
Other ways to repurpose content. Create a graphic, video, etc., from written content and vice versa.
Your take on other people’s content or current news/events. Is there a popular topic of interest to your audience relevant to your business? Write an opinion piece or write on this topic from your point of view, how it affects your business, industry, region, etc.
BTS (Behind the Scenes). Give your audience a peek behind the scenes – your day, how you perform a specific task, the profile of a staff member, a supplier, etc.
Origin Stories. Who doesn’t love a good origin story?! Further to BTS, share stories about how the business started, your first sale, etc.
Problems You’ve Overcome. Talking about past problems may take courage, but you come out looking good in the end. Show your audience your problem-solving skills and resilience!
Survey or Poll. People love giving their opinions, and you will get relevant input for your business.
